You Are the Pebble in the Slingshot.

Did you have a slingshot as a child or know someone that did?
The further back they pulled the slingshot the farther the pebble or rock would go.

Many of you are experiencing major set backs in your lives. Or worse yet, you have been experiencing setbacks for a while, and then started to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and just when you thought you were going to reach the end, the light suddenly went out or seemed like the exit was plugged up.

Often times when we are being prepared for our next level, be it a promotion on the job or career, a new home, or a better relationship, we have to experience several setbacks. These setbacks are designed to test and strengthen us.

Don't take my word for it.
Ask Dan Cathy, CEO of Chick-Fil-A, who encountered an interruption in his life when he had an unfortunate accident with fire.

Or what about J.C. Penney who lost his first wife in 1910 and his second wife in 1923. In 1929, during the Great Depression, J.C. Penney had built up the J.C.Penney department stores to 1400 across the nation only to loose $40 million in a single day. He was flat broke at 54 years of age. He went into deep depression. Convinced that he was about to die, he checked himself into Battle Creek Sanitarium in Battle Creek, Michigan. He wrote a farewell letter to his family and friends, then went to bed to die. Penney was awakened, in the morning, by the sound of voices singing a hymn. He followed the melodious voices to the chapel. He sat in the back row and sang the hymn. Immediately he felt rejuvenated and refreshed, full of hope. You know the rest of the story. He was able to rebuild his retail empire.

With all the tragedy that J.C. Penney went thru, he could have easily given up. But he didn’t. Sometimes it seems like things are getting much worse before they get better.

When you pull back a slingshot the further back you pull it the farther the pebble will go. The further back you pull the slingshot the greater the impact the pebble will make on the object that it hits.

Don’t look back as you are being pulled back, but do all that you can to look forward to the dreams in your heart that are ahead of you.
